SDSC Angling – Newsletter and Update 01/2021
This Newsletter is intended to update members and prospective members regarding SDSC Angling arrangements for 2021-2022. Total Membership of SDSC Angling remains capped at 100 inclusive of all categories.
If you are a current SDSC Angling Member then your renewal will fall due shortly. Please follow the renewal instructions on the renewal form on the SDSC Angling Webpage and be aware that renewals MUST be completed and fully paid by 31/05/2021 to ensure continuity of membership. See below for NEW contact details.
If you are a prospective applicant seeking SDSC Angling membership please be aware that the wait list will open on 01/05/2021 for one month only. Should vacancies become available and you are successful we will contact you after 01/06/2021. Please provide name and address. See below for contact details.
Members will shortly notice new signage, kindly provided by the Canal and River Trust (CRT) Manager, Lewis Kneale. The signs are in CRT blue and white and clearly denote Private Fishing, with club details and contact information displayed. They are slightly less than A3 in size and of plasticised aluminium, so barring any vandalism issues they should last for some time. We express our thanks to CRT for this generous gesture.
We now have ten formally appointed SDSC Angling Water Keeper/Bailiffs carrying photo identification to oversee our waters, although it is still the responsibility of all members to check for anyone taking advantage and fishing without membership. So please ensure you have your SDSC Angling Card with you at all times whilst on the waters, as you will almost certainly be asked to produce it.
Furthermore, we have reviewed the angling rules and made some changes from the forthcoming renewal, so you are urged to read them carefully.
2021-2022 Renewal Forms are now updated and can be accessed via the link on the SDSC Angling Webpage.
We have a new Insurer this year – The Angling Trust – to whom we are now affiliated. This has not only saved a significant amount of money but has, in agreement with the SDSC Committee, allowed us to introduce a Junior Membership Category, subject to certain restrictions. Any Junior up to and including the age of 17 may be added (and named) on a Senior Membership without charge and upon notification, provided they are in possession of the relevant Environment Agency Angling Licence. Junior Anglers must be accompanied at ALL times. The SDSC Angling Committee reserves the right to vet any Junior Application in order to prevent abuse of the category. This membership category then provides for full Angling Trust insurance coverage whilst angling on SDSC waters.
IMPORTANT: All SDSC Angling correspondence must now, wherever possible, be provided by e-mail to the following address firstname.lastname@example.org
This is to include return of Renewal Forms, Wait List applications, or any general correspondence in relation to SDSC Angling. It is not continually monitored inbox but we will check periodically, especially around the renewal period.
Finally, it just remains for the Committee to wish all members Tight Lines for the forthcoming year.
