Dear SDSC Angling Member,
5th November 2020 COVID-19 and latest England lockdown. We have been asked to clarify the position with regard to angling on SDSC waters as we move into another period of lockdown - we can advise that angling may continue subject to latest guidance being strictly adhered to. Rather than reproduce the guidance in full it is best referred to via the link from our insurers here; https://anglingtrust.net/covid-19/ We emphasise that this is current guidance which may alter if Government or Canals and Rivers Trust advice changes to the contrary. However we will update this page accordingly if and as soon as we receive any new information. So, in summary, please continue to enjoy Angling on our waters but please do comply with the rules as they are currently set down. In the meantime please stay safe, stay well and we wish you all continued tight lines. The SDSC Angling Committee 24 July 2020 Angling Update
Dear SDSC Angling Member, There is only one two week remaining to renew your angling membership if you wish to do so. There is a considerable wait list for membership, therefore to ensure guaranteed renewal you must act now to avoid risk of losing your tab to a prospective new member. Any applications received after the renewal date will be placed in strict order of receipt and you may be disappointed. If you are having difficulty printing the renewal form please email the club at; sharpnessdockersclub@gmail.com and include all the information required on the form and a short note explaining the difficulty. You must still pay (not by cash) and send a SAE as required in order to receive your renewal card. Prospective new members can email similarly with their name and contact details asking to be placed on the wait list. We will be in touch if you are successful. Please note we have a different policy in relation to Juniors from August 2020. This follows a change of Insurer to The Angling Trust and in order for Juniors to be covered by club insurance they now require formal membership. So, to facilitate this we have discussed with the main Club and agreed that Juniors (under the age of seventeen) may apply for angling membership via a Senior angling member, but applications are strictly controlled. If successful, Junior members MUST be accompanied by a Senior Member at all times and MUST be in possession of their membership card and the relevant Environment Agency Fishing Licence appropriate to their age group. This change does not appear on the new membership cards which show the 'old' rules as they were in printing when the change was effected. If you are unsure of what this means please email as above and we will clarify this for you. Junior membership will be free of charge if successful. Finally, and for the time being, there is a mandatory change affecting our waters around and under the High Bridge - with IMMEDIATE EFFECT there is to be NO FISHING from the High Bridge towards the Low Bridge, this includes the bridge structure, the piled bank, or the green bank. We are in discussion with the Canals and Rivers Trust about this issue so please respect this request as any indiscretion may affect our ongoing negotiation. This is at the instruction of the Harbour Master and MUST be strictly adhered to. Failure to do so may result in our ability to fish upwards of the High Bridge towards the 'Tirley' and on the High Bank being withdrawn. Currently these other areas are unaffected by this change. Thank you all for your cooperation. Tight Lines and Stay Safe The SDSC Angling Committee Dear Angling Member,
Membership renewals fall due on 1st June 2020 and this has presented us with some potential difficulties due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Therefore the angling committee has agreed that the procedure for renewing angling membership for the forthcoming season will be a change to the normal process as a result and particularly as collecting new cards in person is not possible at present and this is unlikely to change before renewals are due. To facilitate the renewal process we have agreed the following; Existing membership is extended for one month up to and including 30/06/2020 but current cards MUST be carried and produced upon request. Existing members MUST renew and pay by 31/07/2020 (by post as below) to preserve their angling membership. Angling membership subscriptions remain unchanged and you should only pay your angling renewal at this time. Angling membership numbers are restricted to a maximum of 100. New angling memberships will only be open to prospective new members IF there are places available as a consequence of existing members not renewing by the due date. Angling Membership Forms MUST be completed and returned to the address shown with the appropriate payment or method marked and include a Stamped Self Addressed Envelope by the due date. PLEASE add your email address on your application. The Form found to the right can be downloaded and printed: Night Angling Permits continue to be offered firstly to those presently approved and as numbers are currently at a maximum no further Night Angling Permits are available at this time. If you are experiencing difficulty with your SDSC Angling renewal please contact the angling committee via the SDSC email address here: sharpnessdockersclub@gmail.com We apologise for what might seem to be a difficult renewal process but in the circumstances this appears to be the best option available to us. Thank you for your understanding and patience, it is appreciated. Kind Regards and Tight Lines but above all Stay Safe. The SDSC Angling Committee |

Dear SDSC Angling Member,
Further to the Government announcement in relation to relaxation of some COVID 19 lockdown measures and subsequent advice from Canals and Rivers Trust fisheries we are pleased to announce that angling is permitted on all SDSC waters with effect from Wednesday 13th May 2020.
However, new and updated guidance MUST be followed in relation to social distancing from both angling and general public space perspectives. A fuller explanation can be found here;

The SDSC Angling Committee take club responsibilities extremely seriously and kindly request that our members adhere to this policy and respect the space of other anglers and recreational users. Please use common sense at all times whilst enjoying the countryside. Failure to do so may result in angling membership being suspended or withdrawn.
We will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and will post further updates if and when this may be required. In the meantime enjoy the reopened access to our waters.
